“One Change” Press Release

January 10, 2013

January 9, 2013 (Raleigh, N.C.) – With the start of the New Year, University Dining is launching a nutrition campaign to help our campus community make healthy changes this semester. The six-week campaign, called “One Change,” begins January 21 and encourages participants to make one positive change per week, such as walking more often or maintaining proper hydration. Participants are also encouraged to log their progress with the MyFitnessPal app, which includes nutrition information for everything served by University Dining on the NC State Campus.

At the end of the campaign, participants can submit a video of their progress for a chance to win an iPad. Smaller prizes will also be given throughout the six-week period, including water bottles, t-shirts and pedometers.

“We hope the NC State community will take on this challenge for the New Year that could be a lifelong change,” said Lisa Eberhart, the University Dining dietitian, who is leading “One Change.” Eberhart was recently awarded the N.C. Governor’s Award for her contributions to N.C. State, the highest award any state employee can earn.

Students, faculty and staff are encouraged to come to the dining halls for chair massages, health assessments and hydration stations throughout the six-week program. The events are set up to correlate with the change associated with that week. For example, University Dining will have a hydration station set up at Fountain Dining Hall with fresh flavored waters during week two of the campaign, which focuses on proper hydration. In week four of the campaign–the “Get Moving” week–University Dining will be partnering with Carmichael Gym.  Important dates include:

Start Date: Jan. 21
End Date: Feb. 25

Week 1: Get walking
Week 2:  Hydrate
Week 3: Get moving.
Week 4: Eat well.
Week 5: Relax.
Week 6: Log it with the MyFitnessPal app.
